Quaesumus Records was created to distribute music that glorifies God. Quaesumus is Latin for “We beseech thee,” and some of the first music released was based on Catholic prayers that are hundreds of years old. Other songs, encompassing many different musical styles, honor God through the story of the Nativity, the Rosary, praise and worship, and lighthearted family songs. The mission of Quaesumus Records is to help people praise and honor God through music. May the grace and peace of our Lord, Jesus Christ, be with you.
R. J. Janette is a composer who began writing music at age 61 after retiring from a career that included work in industry and academic settings. Her daughter, Rebecca, is severely autistic and the inspiration of the song, For Rebecca (My Special Angel). R. J.’s hope is that the song will encourage parents and family members of all autistic individuals to continue fighting to help autistic individuals get the respect they deserve. R. J. also hopes that people with other invisible disabilities will be encouraged by the song and perhaps even write their own music to describe their challenges.
An invisible disability is defined by invisibledisabilities.org as “a physical, mental or neurological condition that is not visible from the outside, yet can limit or challenge a person’s movements, senses, or activities. Unfortunately, the very fact that these symptoms are invisible can lead to misunderstandings, false perceptions, and judgments.”
